Metallurgical Example
CO-H2O System

This problem considers the equilibrium composition of a mixture consisting initially of CO and H2O, and is an important metallurgical system. The species considered at equilibrium are CH4, CO, CO2, H2, H2O, all in the gas phase, and C(s). The goal is to calculate the equilibrium distribution as a function of temperature and H2O:CO feed ratio. It is particularly important to locate the parameter boundaries which lead to soot (C(s)) formation.

This problem is included as an example in all versions of EQS4WIN. In the initial form of the problem, the H2O:CO ratio is varied from 0 to 2, and the temperature range 400oC-1200oC is considered.
